A handful of this year’s seniors made it to the regional final at the end of their freshman year, losing to Perry Hall in a tight 1-0 contest. As seniors, this year, they made the most of their opportunity with a resounding 5-0 win over rival Sherwood in the Region II Regional Final in the Blair Stadium. The Blazers left little to doubt from the start, with an early one-timer goal from Junior Sophie Kim at the top of the box off of a fantastic cross from senior Dede Greenfield in the ninth minute. Senior tri-captain Noa Dorah added to the Warriors misery 5 minutes later, taking advantage of a turnover and easily beating the Sherwood goalkeeper. Early in the second half, Kim picked up her second goal of the match by knocking in a loose ball after a corner kick by senior tri-captain Janie Pitner. Dorah added a goal a minute later from a slicing 20 yard through ball from Pitner, and the Regional crown was all but secured. But Kim would finish off the scoring in the sixty-second minute on another pass from Greenfield, giving her a hat trick and the Blazers a clear cut 5-0 win. The team joyfully posed for pictures with the Region II trophy as they prepared to move on to the Maryland State Quarterfinals.
