The Blazers made quick work of the Kennedy Cavaliers, with an eight goal outburst in the first half. The Cavaliers played a high line offside trap, which played right into the hands of the speed of the visiting Blazers. Freshman, Magda Goles opening the scoring on a breakaway via a through ball from Junior Emilie Vigliotta in the 11th minute. Goles scored again, two minutes later, on a 40-yard pass from Sophomore center back, Ali Freeman-O’Neill. Two minutes later, Sophomore Marlee Ginyard stole the ball off of the feet of a Kennedy defender and waltzed in for the third goal of the game. Junior Sophie Kim got into the act, intercepting a pass and taking it in alone for a goal in the 18th minute. Ten minutes later, Senior Bianca Martinez Penn fired a shot from 20 yards out off of a pass from Senior Noa Dorah for goal number five. Dorah would get a goal of her own, accelerating down the left side and blasting a shot into the far upper corner of the net in the 29th minute. Junior Isabel Aliaga broke in behind the Cavalier defense next, scoring her first varsity goal in the 33rd minute. Sophomore Salma Chicas took a pass from Dorah and scored her first varsity goal as well, and the Blazers took a commanding 8-0 into halftime. For most of the second half, Blair was content controlling the ball. Senior Jansi Medina-Tayac scored her first goal of the season off of a through ball from Dorah with five minutes to play and Senior Vivi Labarca scored her first varsity goal two minutes later. Senior Zoe Abramson, Martinez Penn, and Junior Indigo Suchar shared goalkeeping chores and combined for the shutout.
