In heartbreak fashion, Blair’s Boys’ Varsity basketball team lost a frenzied and contentious match-up against Springbrook. With the final score reading 49-45 as the final buzzer sounded, the Blazers had to reflect on how the Blue Devils overcame a 9-point halftime deficit to overtake Blair by the end of the 3rd quarter. Ultimately, the team’s inability to control the ball, committing 30 turnovers in 32 minutes, kept the door open for Springbrook to convert off of these free chances. While Blair may have owned the first half, the second half was all Springbrook, who outscored the Blazers 24-12 in the 3rd frame alone. Blair was in it all the way down the stretch despite their continued carelessness with the ball. Down 2 points with a chance to tie or win the game in the final seconds, Blair committed their last turnover of the game, ultimately not even getting a chance to attempt to win the game themselves. The Blazers hope to bounce back from their game against Springbrook with match-ups versus Kennedy on Wednesday, January 16th, and against Sherwood on Friday, January 18th.
